canopy lifting gear
Canopy gear is used on single doors up to 8ft wide. The door lifts on cables which wrap around a plastic cone. The spring runs above the top of the door panel and is attached to the cones and cables.

Benefits: The drive through clearance is the same as the frame opening size at the height of a normal car wing mirror. The gear is cheaper on metal doors. On some of the Manufacturer's doors the handle is 1/3 from the top of the door; most canopy doors are supplied with 3 point locking.
Disadvantages: The door must be balanced when lifting or closing; this means that it must be lifted and closed from the centre. This door is not suitable for electric operation.
sectional gear

The vertical movement of the door enables it to be opened even with vehicles or obstructions within a few millimeters of the outside face of the door. The door is available in horizontal or Georgian designs, and in a choice of full insulation for strength and thermal values, insulated but of a lesser quality of insulation, and steel, non-insulated, and foam core.
Advantages: Once closed the door sits behind the frame and doesn't swing out of the opening; therefore this door will seal on all 4 sides and give security, draft proofing, strength, and Insulation if required. the door will lift vertically and is ideal for short drives. This door is suitable for electric operation.
Disadvantages: The door requires 12" of headroom for the curve of the track; if not available low headroom gear are available at extra cost. the tracks run back into the garage for approx. 8 ft. (Subject to door size.)
locking

Canopy and tracked doors come with European locking (similar to mortice locking), but some doors do still come with T handle locking; wherever possible we will supply the door with the Euro lock. Canopy doors have either 3 bars to lock them or 3 spring catches. Tracked doors have 2 point locking, though we can supply some doors with 3 point lock system. Please ask for details. Sectional doors have 2 spring catches. Roller doors have 2 locking bars, which bolt into the side tracks.
Hinged doors have Yale type lock as standard. Hasp and staples, padbolts, and the new 7 lever Garalock are all available at extra cost. Electric doors do not use the manual locking, except the integra. On up and over doors we can fit security drop bolt, or de-latching kits to work with the remote control system. Sectional and rollers do not require this.
tracked lifting gear

Tracked gear is used on single size and double doors. The door lifts on arms, springs help with the lift and the door is controlled at the top, running into tracks that run backwards into the garage at the height of the door.
Benefits: The door is easier to lift and less likely to lift out of square. This gear is more robust and better long term. The handle is located 1/3 from the bottom of the door. Most tracked doors are supplied with 2 point locking. This gear is suitable for electric operation.
Disadvantages: The door opening is reduced by approx. 2 1/2" on the width on high pivot gear, and 4 - 5" on standard gear.
roller doors
The roller type door rolls up without swinging out of the opening; the door panel runs up vertical tracks situated at the side of the door. This allows vehicles to park up to the front of the garage door. Doors are available in light weight domestic version; this has a panel pressed into the horizontal shape and measures approx 2' 6" high.
Each panel is held together to form the larger panel. (Not recommended for security.) Security doors in either insulated or non-insulated steel, with 3" curved lath make the door strong and more secure; also heavy industrial strength for maximum security.
All doors are available with electric operation.
hinged doors

Hinged doors are available in steel, fully finished steel, high gloss white fibreglass, and woodgrain fibreglass. A vast range of styles in cedarwood, and the traditional softwood vertical rib doors. Hinged doors are available with windows.
The hinged option is ideal for anybody who only requires part of the door opened, or with small children who cannot lift a door over the head. We do recommend door stays to keep doors open at 90 degrees to stop wind damage. Doors come with bolts to the top and bottom. of the 2nd door, and a standard Yale type lock. Mortice lock, with or without handles, can be fitted at extra cost. Most up and over doors are available in the hinged option. Hinged doors can have electric operation.
