design
Generally, the doors are supplied in either a horizontal design or the Classic Georgian panel design. The doors have a woodgrain panel stamped into the face, and are supplied in either white or brown. (Except Crawford.)

Fibreglass high gloss Georgian doors, and a choice of woodgrain finishes in the Classic Georgian panel design will be available shortly. We can also supply side doors to match the designs.
how the gear works
The door has tracks, which run up the vertical legs of the frame, and turns at 90 degrees and runs back into the garage. There are usually 4 panels for a standard height door and each will be fixed together with hinges, interlocking on closing. The rollers run in the tracks controlling the door; there is a spring with drums to each side which cables run around above the height of the door, which wind up to lift the door. The door lifts up without swinging out of the opening.
Doors come fully insulated, insulated, not insulated at all, and foam core.
If you require a fully insulated door, this is only available as a Crawford Door. Crawford are the world's largest overhead door manufacturer; the doors are made in Sweden and have heavy duty steel on the front and back panels, with a dense foam, filled and baked in between these panels.
These doors are insulated for strength and thermal quality = to a brick wall. A standard insulation will give a slightly less strong steel inner and outer panel and a lighter foam, still very strong = to double glazing.
An un insulated door will give draught proofing; this will be more noisy on lifting and closing as the panel is not insulated - still very strong but not as strong as the 2 previous options.
A foam core door is a very light steel outer panel with only a very light foam layer, and has very, very thin steel or cardboard as a backer; not really to be used for security - less strong than the non-insulated door, but quieter on use.
advantages
Advantages The main advantage of having a sectional door fitted is the security that they provide, as the door has no gaps and have seals on all 4 sides of the opening. They are the most secure door available. Also, heat retention for garages with rooms above, and less noisy on use than an up-and-over or roller door. Maximize your drive and inside garage space with this option.
disadvantages

Disadvantages The main disadvantage is that the door normally requires 12" headroom for the curve of the door track (9" on the Crawford door), and the tracks run approx. 8ft. back into the garage. Low headroom gear as low as 3" are available at extra cost.
