why have your garage door with electric operation?
Safety Security Convenience

With an electric operator, fitted or supplied by GDSS, you can enjoy the convenience of opening the door on the touch of the remote control button. No more standing out in the rain whilst opening the door, the remote control system works within 50 ft of the garage opening, so you can open it whilst driving towards the door - no more struggling with a heavy door, the handset only weighs ounces.

Up and Over, Sectional, or Hinged Doors
Safety and Security

- Safety features ensure high security to guard against unauthorized entry.
- AC motor requires 75mm ceiling clearance whilst the DC motor only requires 30mm clearance.
- The motor on the AC is situated at the back of the boom whilst the DC motor travels with the door down the fixed chain on the boom.
- The motor has fuse protection.
- The boom is fully galvanized.
- The tracks can be suspended vertically or horizontally.
- Control Panel.
- The operators come with courtesy light.
- On the AC motor the chain passes through cogs to move the door; on the DC motor the chain is stationary.
- An internal manual release is always installed in case of power failure.
- The boom measures 3.5m long and will lift up to 8ft up and over, and 8ft sectional doors.
integra electric door system

The Integra is the only electric door system on the up and over market where the door is manufactured as an electric door from day one, and not added on to make it into an electric door.
Loosely based on canopy gear, it lifts the door from both sides on chains and cables. With the motor fitted at the top of the door, it comes with an integral steel frame and has manual locking, alarm and light as standard features; at present only available on certain fibreglass doors up to 8ft wide. Ideal for garages where there is an obstruction such as a chimney breast inside the garage.
the difference between ac & dc
The DC motor has a static chain and the motor travels with the door; the operation is uniquely quiet and the number of moving parts is kept to a minimum. There is less stress on the motor as it travels with the door. For an extra charge the DC motor is available with a soft stop facility.
The AC motor is slightly louder than the DC; it has a chain that passes around cogs and the motor pushes the chain.
GUARANTEE
All operators supplied and/or fitted by GDSS are covered for 2 years parts and labour. The motor on the AC model is guaranteed for 10 years.
safety
At GDSS safety is our main concern. We work to full EEC legislation which states that, if a remote control system is fitted to a garage door then it becomes machine. We have to verify that 1) the operator is of correct strength to lift the door, 2) that it complies with EEC directive on safety and fitting. We issue paperwork with the job to check that a) the integral plug is still connected, b) that, should the door hit an obstruction it is guaranteed to stop and reverse on closing, or stop on opening, and that usage instructions including emergency release instructions are left on the door. All work is covered by our full liability insurance.

On the roller type door, generally the motor is fitted within the roll of the drum above the height of the door; if an auto reverse is not standard, magic eyes, laser beams should be fitted for safety. Additional side room may be required on the side that the operator will be fitted.
All doors with the exception of the canopy door can be fitted with electric operation, to include remote control facility. This can be fitted with the installation of the new door, or fitted after the event. Old doors can be fitted with remote control. (Canopy doors require gear conversion to Retractable gear).
- Operators come with 1 handset and the internal push button.
- Additional handsets can be obtained at extra cost.
- Security drop bolt or de-latching for up and over doors available.
- Roller doors, sectional and the Integra do not require extra security.
- If there is no second door into the garage, external manual release must be fitted in case of power cuts. This will enable the door to be put into manual operation if necessary.
